Good morning everyone!

It is Miss World Canada 2017 in Toronto! Day one was meeting everyone, and there are so many amazing, kind-hearted girls here! Even better, my roommate, Maleeka, is such a sweetheart and we get along so well! We met our sponsors from Golden Glamour Goddesses, Helene Clarkson Design, Skechers, Archer Dental, Nine West, the Kraco, Snappy Towels, and Babe Box Official.

This week have done so much including a cruise with Mariposa Cruises, trips to Ripley’s Aquarium, Nando’s, Global News, Pizza e Pazzi, and City News. We have been touring all around Toronto and everywhere we go, people and children all around are asking us to take pictures with them! The children especially love the crowns! All in all, this has been an amazing experience for me! I have already learned so much from the girls around me, I couldn’t say anything but good things about them!

Last night was the priliminairies at the Great Hall. We went through all the girls in the lovely swimsuits we were given, as well as all the stunning evening gowns that the girls were wearing for the evening gown portion. The most fascinating and interesting part was the five girls that presented their Beauty With a Purpose project, which you can see the girl’s hearts come out as they pour out their passions. Not only that, but I have to say the five that were selected to perform their talents, they owned that stage! Incredible performances, all of them. All the girls here deserve to be here, without a doubt.

I am so excited to see what the day brings tomorrow on the final night! Good luck to all the other girls!

With love,

Sheri-Lynn, Miss Winnipeg

Being a part of Miss Manitoba pageant and being selected for Nationals has made me realize something: you can come from any background, any walk of life and if you set your mind to it, you can go places you thought you would never go. You can accomplish things you never thought you could do. You can achieve things you never thought possible.

I have gone to work every day, as many of us do, going through the motions. We work, we pay bills, we grocery shop, we do life. Every day at work I turn wrenches and fix cars. Then one day I found myself at the Miss Manitoba pageant going home with the title of Miss Winnipeg World 2017. Miss World Canada is coming up next week, and I’m headed there to do someting I’ve never done before. It’s attitude, determination, and perserverance that determine your success. It’s you that determines your success! Follow your dreams!

With Love,

Hey everyone!

Today is Canada day, and I just want to take this time to remember and honour those that served our country, particularly someone that I lost to his battle with depression. He took his own life at the end of a long battle of ups and downs that dragged on for most of his adult life. Mental illness affects, or has affected, 50% of Canadians by the time they reach the age of 40. These days it’s all too easy to get caught up in the busyness of work, school, studies, or just the stresses of everyday life. Too many people don’t leave time to de-stress, wind down, take a break and step back. Look after your mental health. Take the dog to the park, get outside, enjoy the weather. Take the time to talk with a friend or family member. Especially when you’re in a dark place or stuck in a rut of depression it’s easy to forget that people really do care about you and love you. On the flip side, sometimes we forget how powerful a kind word or action can be. Know the signs. Make yourself available to talk. There’s no shame in asking for help, or admitting you need help. Let’s break the stigma behind mental illness.

With love,

Sheri-Lynn, Miss Winnipeg

Hello world!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of joining Miss Manitoba and Miss Teenage Eastman at the Red River Ex to do some volunteer work as Miss Winnipeg. It was rainy and wet out but we were all smiles and happy to be out talking to people and in the community! One of the amazing things about pageants is the opportunity you get to meet new people and make new friendships as you go out making a difference in the world, one little action at a time!

Smile and keep positive!

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog, following my journey to Miss World Canada! After being crowned Miss Winnipeg World in the Miss Manitoba pageant, I’m continuing on to represent my province and city at Nationals!

As an automotive technician, I’m a very down-to-earth person. I was born and raised in Winnipeg, so I guess you could say I’m a typical prairie-girl! I love the outdoors, I love animals, and I love people! I’ll take you through my adventures on my way to Nationals, and you can experience everything I experience!

More to come on my Beauty With a Purpose, breaking the stigma surrounding mental illness. Depression has a dramatic effect on thousands of people’s lives all across Canada and somehow there is so little understood about it. Making a difference starts with one person. It starts with you, and it starts with me. Learn, listen, and educate.

Looking forward to Miss World Canada and everything along the way!
